Good book for perfmon or resource

Guys it is time and time again that I run into slow server or performance issues with a server. I do not feel that comfortable troubleshooting these issues entirely in depth. I found a very, very good book by Tony Redmond on exchange 2007 server. If only all books and resources were written like this. Can anyone recommend a book and or resource that will break down perfmon with great examples and explanations of each counter as it applies to like SQL server, Exchange and so forth and also from an OS perspective.

Unfortunately I don't know of a book that lays out perfmon counters like that.  It would be a good book  There were some years ago in the Windows 2000 days but haven't seen those updated

You can do individual searches for example

Exchange   http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335215.aspx
SQL  http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jimmymay/archive/2008/10/15/perfmon-objects-counters-thresholds-utilities-for-sql-server.aspx

You may also want to explore the PAL tool which is free and can really help.  It was created by a Microsoft PFE
 http://pal.codeplex.com/

Nice entry about PAL   http://danieladeniji.wordpress.com/2011/01/14/microsoft-performance-analysis-of-logs-pal-tool-v2-x-using-pal-template-files-in-ms-windows-2008/

I've attached a sample file from an AD log using PAL.  You will see in PAL you can also select exchange/sql

Thanks

by the way bookmark my blog, I'm planning to write a blog on PAL and AD in the next week or two (going out of town for work next week so that may delay the blog entry)

Thanks
