recomend: osx vinyl cutter software / hardware

I've been given an opportunity to create a "division" of a local graphics / ad shop that wants to branch out.  They're OS X Lion only, mostly wireless.  I'll be issued a MBP.  I need software and vinyl cutter (about 24 inches) recommendations that work well with OSX and USB or AirPort Wireless networks.  Their in-house work is done mostly with Illustrator but they do have Corel Draw as well.

Banner printing is farmed out.  This would be mostly last minute window treatments, directional signs, replacement work for lost banners and such at trade/market shows as well as full-size mock-ups of ideas drawn with plotter pens.

I've got the PC side of this down, but in the past Apple has been a bit of kluge in the vinyl cutting business.  I'm looking to make this switch to be as painless as possible.

I think that illustrator and corel are the two best software for what you are wanting to do. some hardware obviously has proprietary software that may work just fine but I do not have any experience with them.
I have seen people use the Laserpoint 24. I would look into that one. I may be a bit old but you may be able to find one at a reasonable price.

Good luck

Thanks for the response.  I was hoping to find someone who'd had some actual experience in the business with these tools.  Most often, there is some sort of proprietary plug-in, usually with some sort of hardware key, standing between the software and the cutter that drives the signmaker.

I have a Roland GX 24 it uses a plugin called cut studio to cut out of Corel and Illustrator. It will cut directly out of corel draw as a printer. You may have to play with the settings to get your procedure right. What I understand cut studio works with a mac in illustrator but to use it stand alone you must have a PC. Here is a forum thread that might help.

not the kind of general state of the art in vinyl cutting with the mac I'd wanted, but must be too arcane for EE. thanks.
