PopupControlExtender Problem

I am using a PopupControlExtender in an asp.net web page that gets dynamic content from a page method and displays it to the user in a Panel. It works great using local file system from the VS2008 , but when it runs from the web server the PopupControlExtender is not working and the server eventlog writes an error generated from the Page_Load method:
" [System.NullReferenceException] Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I know what that means but I cannot figure out why it only happens on the web server.

1. I have confirmed that the correct AJAX dll is on the web server that is in my VS2008 project
2. Using the same data source

Please, any ideas

There is not enough information here.
Try deploying pdb files with your site and see if you can at least get a line number in the error.
That might lead you to the offending code.

I figured it out, this setting was not in the web.config

      <httpModules>
                  <add name="ScriptModule" type="System.Web.Handlers.ScriptModule, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/>
          </httpModules>
