We have single sbs2008 and around 10 clients. One of our users (who is using a relatively old computer) is having issues when creating a new e-mail.

Whenever he starts to type the message content, partway through it, the cursor freezes, but around a minute later, the writing eventually appears.

This only seems to affect him, but as I write, the problem is not evident. He tells me it does it all of the time, or should I say most of the time, so I am looking for things to try to resolve this.

We are using AVG V2011, and the OS in question is XP Pro SP3.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to trap this problem?

Many thanks

This could be caused by many things

frist I would try another keyboard
check the drivers of you  mouse and keyboard
disable all applications temporally especially AV (use msconfig)
try login with another user to identify that it is not a user profile related issue
boot into safe mode and try from there
check event logs
