I've got a Cisco 2851 router - ios version c2800nm-spservicesk9-mz.124-15.T3.bin
I have a wifi hwic installed - Single Band 802.11 B/G Radio Access Point HWIC
I have configured wireless which is working without issue.

I have been asked if it's possible to configure wpa2 authentication as opposed to the current set up wpa (see below)

dot11 ssid wifi
   vlan 1
   max-associations 100
   authentication open
   authentication key-management wpa
   guest-mode
   wpa-psk ascii wireless_key

From the options available it does not allow me to. Is this something availbale in a newer IOS or would I need to upgrade the hardware router/hwic etc to achieve this

Usually you would set WPA2 as follows...

dot11 ssid wifi
 authentication key-management wpa version 2

However, you can force the encryption to use AES only...

conf t
interface Dot11Radio0
 encryption mode ciphers aes
end

Your right encryption mode ciphers aes-ccm under the relevant radio interface has set this up.
