ora-12571 TNS:packet writer failure on site to site vpn

I have a site to site VPN set up using a T1 internet connection on both sides and sonicwalls on both sides.

When running a ping test connection is never lost.

I have  some programs that use oracle odac and oracle forms on the remote site that connect to the oracle 11 database on the home site and the programs will crash and give a ora-12571 TNS:packet writer failure.

I have already tried to change sqlnet.ora on the client, SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE) from (NTS) and that did not resolve the issue.  The disconnect seem to occur every 15 minutes or so.

Issue only occurs on site to site vpn setup.  Connections to a different subnet using a MPLS connection are working properly.
Any help would be appreciated.

This problem seems to be a firewall issue. I never configured this firewall with oracle.
Just check by disabling firewall and if everything looks good. You may need to take help of system admin.

Please enable the necessary ports on firewall rather than disabling it.

Sorry, I misread it. i thought u r not able to establish connection at all. We are also facing same problem oracle connections are dropped after moving databases behind firewall (VLAN).
