If I have a column in excel called contract no, and a table in sql 2008 called plantname_usa_inc, with a column in it called contract_information_contract.

What is the best way to import the data from the excel column to the sql column??

Thanks!!

There are a couple ways you can do this.

1. SSIS - most efficient and most complex
2. Create a staging table. Copy & Paste the data to that table and then write a script that gets the right pieces to the right spots.

right-click in the connections area and choose New Connection...

One of the options in the list will be EXCEL. The rest of the file setup will be self-explanatory.

Problem I found is this:

x64 SQL hass no option for excel.

x32 has option but returns this:

TITLE: SQL Server Import and Export Wizard
------------------------------

The operation could not be completed.

------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Could not find installable ISAM. (Microsoft JET Database Engine)

------------------------------
BUTTONS:

OK
------------------------------

I ended up importing excel to Access then upsizing the data to SQL.  Mission accomplished.

Thanks so much for your help!!  :-)
