We just migrated sbs 203 to sbs 2011. Everything has gone well except for this website issue.

Internally when we hit mail.domain.com it gets redirected to mail.domain.com/remote.
We have serached everywhere for this redirect and cannot find it anywhere.
Externally when i try to hit mail.domain.com the page times out. I believe the /remote redirect is causing an issue.
Externally i can hit mail.domain.com/owa and mail.domain.com/remote fine

Make sure port 80 is being forwarded as well, not just 443. That particular redirect happens *before* IIS enforces SSL.

Are you referring to natting in the firewall? Where is this forwarding located?

I am referring to a firewall NAT rule. The redirect is, as I recall, an application-level call, not an IIS configuration. Thus IIS needs to receive the traffic WITH all HTTP headers intact for the application event that generates the redirect to fire.

In sbs 2011 there is a module to redirect the default website to the remote virtual directory. This is a default and was not my problem after all.

We had issues with not being able to setupemail on our phnes so we thought this redirect was the issue. The issues was because we still had ssl required on the autodiscover virtual dir.
