Shelby server crash
Hi all,
I had a windows server 2000 crash on me and I've been working on restoring our Shelby server using recovered mdf and bak files but have had no results. The mdf file I have was not detached properly and is giving me the error: “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\ shelbydb.m df is not a primary database file. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 5171)”. When I try the .bak files I've been able to retrieve, the new shelby does not recognize them as valid shelby bak files. So, with this said, does anyone ideas on how I can either 1) fix the mdf file or 2) fix the bak file so that I can get our shelby server up again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance.

I've tried the attach but because the mdf file I have was never detached, I get a 'not a valid database header' error; I will try:
RESTORE DATABASE shelbydb FROM 'c:\backup\shelby.mdf' WITH RECOVERY
and see what happens.
Thank you.
