my dad's inbox.dbx was found in recycle bin . he is using winXP and OE6.

The inbox is 126mb. I restored the inbox to the correct folder and it doesnt pick it up. Instead it creates a new inbox called inbox(1).dbx and kind of starts again.

I can read the message with a 3rd party tool but i cant restore message back in to inbox from old inbox.dbx.

Why cant i pick up the old inbox.dbx and how can i get message back into OE6

Close Outlook, open task manager-go to process and make sure that the Outlook is not running in the background.

Enable hidden files and folders. Make sure the path your are trying to restore the inbox.dbx doesnt not have any hidden file by the name inbox.dbx. (this may be the reason the restore adds (1) to it)
