does anyone know of a good free framework to use for JSP for a website. &nbsp;I only know of expensive options like ATG. &nbsp;Not sure if I can get a &nbsp;free version of ATG or something as good. &nbsp; <br />

I want to setup a website and use JSP but dont want to code for authentication, logging, sessio management and all the other messy stuff.<br />

Note framework could be the wrong work, &nbsp;I want something with the basic work done. &nbsp;Think thats called a framework. &nbsp;If I am wrong let me know so i can restructure question.<br />

Benefits and drawbacks to framework suggested would be good help.

Framework for JSP

JavaServer Pages (JSP) allow the development of dynamically generated web pages. It uses the Java programming language; JSP pages are translated into servlets at runtime, with each servlet being cached and reused until the JSP is modified. JSP allows Java code to be interleaved with static web markup content, so the resulting page can be compiled and executed on the server to deliver the content.

Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) is a group of interrelated Web development techniques used on the client-side to create asynchronous Web applications. With AJAX, web applications can send data to and retrieve from a server asynchronously (in the background) without interfering with the display and behavior of the existing page. HTML and CSS can be used in combination to mark up and style information. The Document Object Model (DOM) is accessed with JavaScript to dynamically display and allow interaction with the information presented.

AJAX

An application server is a software framework that provides both facilities to create applications and a server environment to run them. Most application server frameworks contain a comprehensive service layer model, acting as a set of components accessible to the software developer through an API defined by the platform itself. For Web applications, these components are usually performed in the same running environment as their web server(s), and their main job is to support the construction of dynamic pages. However, many application servers target much more than just Web page generation: they implement services like clustering, fail-over, and load-balancing.
