Hello

I am about to deploy RU5 to my exchange server 2010 SP1 . Anyone tried it ? any pros /cons ?

The reason I wanted to apply it is to get rid of a content indexing error . at the same time I prefer not to risk my stable server. appreciate your helps.

Thanks
Ali

Pros:
-Fixes an uninstall issue with exchange (not needed unless you will uninstall exchange..)
2266458  You cannot uninstall Exchange Server 2010 RTM after you install Update Rollup 2, Update  Rollup 3, or Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2010
-Gets you ready for Rollup 6 or SP2
-Easy uninstall
To remove Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2010 RTM, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. Then, remove update 2407113.

Cons:
-OWA might break - backup IIS and document the configuration of IIS to the last detail
-Certificates might have issues, possible reinstall of certificates - be ready
-Reboot required

Recommendation: If this is a VM, do this at night & take a snapshot before hand. Make sure you document all your IIS settings and certificates..

I have been running with that update for a while now.  Note, if you have Outlook Web App customizations, this rollup will reset them. For example, one of my clients changed the look of the initial OWA logon pages and this had to be redone after this patch was installed. Other than this issue, there have been no other problems reported.
