Adding Login User

I have created a database and user X can login with no problems. When i attempt to login with user Y it wont allow me. Is there a setting in 2008 SQl to add or allow a user to access the database? I found way to create login for 2005 but 2008 might have different setings.

First you have to create the login by expanding server node > Security and right click on Logins > New Login and give it a password or windows authentication. AFter that ou have to set up the user mapping. By doing this the login is also created in the database as a user and given permissions. This is done in the same window where you create the logins, in the left panel you select User Mapping and then in the right upper panel you check the databases you want to give the user access and in the lower right panel you check the permissions, db_owner for full permission or db_datareader for read only.

If the login exists you will have to select it from Security > Logins > right click on th elogin and then on Properties.
