asked on

why doesn't icon show on wordpress

During testing, prior to posting wordpress  live, we were able to see "colors" icon.  Now that programmer put site live, that icon is not visible to client.  Even though I am able to view it.  I asked programmer to look into it but he isn't very quick on doing things.  Please advise.

Below is a link to what I see (Colors icon)

I have also attached a screen shot of what client sees on 2 computers in-house.

Please post actual URL so I can see source code
I can almost guarantee i can get it to work if i have the actual live url
nevermind, I found the website. What is the url or filename of the image?
Okay, I found the problem, the file:

http://www.resinsforplastics.com/art/ColorsLogoP_small.jpg

Does not exist. This file must be uploaded into

public_html/MyWordPressInstall/art/ColorsLogoP_small.jpg

Simple as that, the image file is just not uploaded properly
If that's not the problem, upload the .htaccess file that is in the root of your wordpress installation and i will look to see if it is improperly configured
Okay, after testing your Wordpress install, it does seem to be URLRewriting properly.

You're programmer apparently failed to upload the graphic properly or at all.

If he is not available to do it, you can upload the image file (icon), and then give me the ftp connection info and I will take care of it.

This connection info will be hidden by a moderator after we use it, but you should still change it to a temporary password first.

I looked in the file structure for ftp and there isn't a MyWord Press Install/art folder.  Is that something I would upload using WordPress versus a ftp tool?
I am able to log in to wordpress admin.  Can't I just upload image there?  I tried adding it to the Media library but that didn't help.  I would prefer doing it myself rather than providing you with ftp info.  I need to learn this stuff.  : )
Log in to your ftp server.

Find the wordpress installation directory (probably the root directory of that domain/website)

Create a new directory (mkdir) called art

Upload the file to the art directory (capitalization matters)

Make sure the filename has this name: ColorsLogoP_small.jpg

You're off :)
