Why can't a play slides in Adobe Connect?

I am trying to view an Adobe Connect presentation but cannot get it to play.  It opens normally but just says "Buffering" and never begins to play (see screenshot attached).  I have confirmed I have current Java installed and enabled and have tried on a couple of Windows XP systems as well as a MacBook Pro with the same effect.

The activity monitor on the Mac is showing a network connection error loading the MP3 file but loads everything else normally.  What could cause this?

Does the Mac have Adobe flash installed?
Does the Mac have Itunes?
As Itunes is required for the mp3

It actually turned out to be an issue with my firewall but I really appreciate it.
