Sharp MX-4101N Copier

I am having issues printing to a Sharp MX-4101N copier. The IP address of the copier and the workstation configuration to print to the "Standard TCP/IP Port" are both the same, but nothing prints out anymore. I can hear the copier gearing up to print when I send a test page; however, nothing comes out of the paper tray. I've tried rebooting the copier, resetting up the printer on the workstation, but it still won't print. The only thing new in the network is a new Dell File Server (Microsoft 2008 R2); however, the workstations are all configured to access the Local Port/Standard TCP/IP Port for the Sharp copier (nothing is going through the file server, and the copier IP address is hard-coded). Any suggestions?

Do you have account codes enabled (if you walk up to the machine, do you need to put in a code to make either black and white copies or color copies)? From what you are describing this is a classic sign of a user trying to print without being "authenicated". So the machine is basically doing the job it is supposed to be doing and denying your print job from processing. What I would try first is to print a black and white page (the machine may only have color locked out but allows black and white because it is cheaper).  Go to the printer properties (win 7) or properties (windows xp) by right clicking on the queue. Go to the advanced tab and then select printer defaults. On the printer defaults go to the color tab and change it from automatic to black and white and hit apply. If you do have account codes enabled, and you have a code, now go to the job handling tab. On the right side place a check mark in user account code (or something along this line) and place your code in the provided box then hit apply. Now go back to the general tab and select printer preferences and repeat these steps (usually the account number will stick but I often find times where the color will not chnge to black and white here for some reason). Now send a test print.

The only other thing that comes to mind is that your trying to print from a MAC or trying to print postscript and the postscript kit has not been installed on the machine.

This is the driver, in some shape or form.
I've seen this problem with Mac's especially - user prints, 2-3 flashes on the data light then nothing.
It's purely down to a spool file which it doesn't recognise....or can't process.

Roll back the driver if it has been renewed, or removed the sharp and it's drivers then re-add the latest PCL driver from http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx

Or try here http://www.sharp.co.uk/cps/rde/xbcr/documents/documents/drv/34_ppc/MXC28_DRV_PCL6-PS-WinXP64-Vista64-764-2k364-2k864-2k8R2-ver1010a_GB.exe for the driver.

When I did this (MX2700) if I remember right, I had to use the OS9 driver...

If you are in deed printing from a mac, make sure the postscript kit is installed. If it is not installed it will not print, it is a option on most sharp mfps including the 4101.

I am printing from Windows XP 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit. I did try to remove all of the old Sharp drivers and then reinstall the new PCL6 drivers, but it's still doing the same thing. We are not using PS drivers. The PS kit is not installed.

Thank you for your assistance. It was a user authentication issue. We've now turned that feature off.
