outlook 2003 how to disable show in groups

i turn off "Show in Groups", it comes back after restarting.
do you know why?

This seemed to be fixed in 2007 but is back in 2010. Every morning I check show in groups, nothing changes because it's already in groups even though it's set not to, then uncheck it and it's fine for the day.

I know this isn't a helpful solution, just my experience. Ms seems more concerned about adding features and ribbons than getting core functionality to work reliably.
