SQL server fail over cluster disk resource change

I currently have an instance SQL server setup up in a failover cluster environment.
I recently added 2 new SAN storage Disk(v:- w:) to the cluster and migrated all databases from SAN drives s: and t:
I used SQL Server detach(s: and  t:) and  attach(v: and w:) to move the databases. For the master, msdb and model databases I used:

ALTER DATABASE model MODIFY FILE ( NAME = DB , FILENAME = 'V:\path\file' )

I then went in to SQL Server -> Surface area configuration – Right click instance – Advance and set the startup drives to be v: and w:

The SQL server instance starts ok and I verified I am using V: and W:

The new v: and W: drives are available disk resources in fail over cluster management

When I went into Failover cluster managemnt and brought the S: and T: drives offline it’s shutting down the SQL server instance. I removed all dependencies on these drives.

What’s the proper way to remove the S: and the T: drive resources from the cluster without bringing the SQL server instance offline?

Why would bringing the s: and t: drives offline stop the SQL server instance?

What did I do wrong here?

In cluster management, check the dependencies of the SQL Server instance.  They are probably still referring to the S: and T: drive.

Thanks JestersGrind:. I stated in the problem description that I removed all dependencies.

Sorry, I missed that.  These are the steps to take to remove drives from a SQL Server cluster

In Cluster Administrator
Take the SQL Server resource offline
Go to the properties of SQL Server resource --> Dependencies --> remove the disk from the dependency list
Bring the SQL Server resource back online
