May be you are using a third party spam filter like Iron port or something.
Once check the mailflow from this microsoft site.

Maybe I am paranoid, but site is asking me to enter the server password and I am not comfortable with that.  I don't really know what I am doing, so a tad skeptical of that.

OP, did you ever solve this issue?  I'm also having bounce back messages like you do.  As well, I'm using IronPort so we should be having a similar network setup.
