Hi,

I'm planning on buying a receiver to improve audio for my Dune Prime 3.0 mediaplayer.
Now from what I understand I can either hook it up in two ways:
- Dune to TV using HDMI + Dune audio to receiver
- Dune to receiver using HDMI and using HDMI out on receiver to TV.

Is this correct and if so what do you recommend?

Any idea at this point what receiver you might purchase?

What type of TV do you have? Does it support ARC (audio return channel)?

I have not purchased a TV yet, so all options are open. Also the receiver is also undecided, if you have any suggestions please let me know.

You should probably connect Dune to receiver using HDMI, then HDMI receiver out to TV. http://www.brighthub.com/electronics/home-theater/articles/40946.aspx

The advantage of audio return channel is the audio from your TV will "go back" to the receiver via the HDMI cable. So if the content is acquired from the TV, there's not a need for any extra cables. With the advent of network apps on a TV, this might  be of some use, for instance. Both the AV receiver and TV need to support it if you want to use it.
