Measuring transfer speeds

Hi.
I need a purpose built, preferably simple, utility to test the transfer speeds between two computers. Preferably the host computer would be listening for tests from mutiple client computers at any time.
My goal would be to test the internet connection speeds at my client's offices. I want to eliminate any variables so I don't want to use existing online speed tests. I want to control both computers.
Thanks,

if you want you can download the mini version of speed test from speedtest.net and host it on the computer you are trying to access. This way it will be one to one without going to a host provider.

I've done that in the past to figure out the speed quickly without much coding.
