different ringtone on cisco 7942 or 7962 for internal calls

Hi there, we have about 10 cisco phones in an office connected to CME 8.5.
Users would like their phones to discern inbound calls from the outside and internal calls from one extension to another and wish the internal calls to ring differently; how can we set this up?

You can't discern external from internal calls on you ip phones. You can configure how each line rings though. A phone could be configured with extension 4559 to be reached only by internal phones, and another line 4559 to be reached by external numbers. Each one configured to ring differently. But probably you may want to write line labels for user comfort, something like

4559 External
4559 Internal

Disadvantages: Users already will know how to tell calls apart by looking at the ringing extension, and it consumes two buttons on each phone. No other way around.


In CME the option to have this is called the ring internal command:
