http://www.vmware.com/products/vsphere-hypervisor/overview.html

you need to register and you will receive a license key which you need to apply to the server.

Usually, ESXi 4.1 runs' in Evaluation/Trial Mode for 60 days.

After 60 days, you cannot turn on any virtual machines, unless you apply your Free License.

Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
that's for Lab Manager, not the Hypervisor!

How did you download without getting the key, it's usually displayed when you download?

https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/index.php?p=free-esxi5&lp=default

Remember to Register and Login, and select ESXi 4.1

Yes, you select the other Radio Button, and Enter the License Key which is displayed, when you register.

Sorry, at the moment you are not authorized to download VMware vCenter Server 2.5. You have the following options:

http://www.vmware.com/downloads/download.do?downloadGroup=VC250U6

Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
Why are you downloading vCenter now?

this is not the license you require?

You can only download vCenter 4.1/5.0 trials.

I do not know where you've got these links they are old, and will not work with ESXi 4.1.

This is the link you require

https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?p=vmware-vsphere5-ent&lp=default&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CC4QFjAA&url=http://www.vmware.com/go/tryvsphere&rct=j&q=vCenter%20trial&ei=8OOGTqm3JJHa0QW11vTUDw&usg=AFQjCNEazNzCELCWkyjgi3v1_sI9WYWaZQ&sig2=4Hz1IHkeDIAxN86fEx7g4w

Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
if you use the last link, you will be able to evaluate vCenter 4.1.

Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
fyi, vCenter 5.0 does NOT support ESX 3.0.2.

Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
Try this Link

you will need to register and login with your VMware Account

https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?p=vmware-vsphere5-ent&lp=default&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CC4QFjAA&url=http://www.vmware.com/go/tryvsphere&rct=j&q=vCenter%20trial&ei=8OOGTqm3JJHa0QW11vTUDw&usg=AFQjCNEazNzCELCWkyjgi3v1_sI9WYWaZQ&sig2=4Hz1IHkeDIAxN86fEx7g4w

However, vCernter 4.1 may no longer be available as a trial. as vCenter 5.0 is the current version.
But this DOES not work with 3.0.2.

Try the link.

When you first downloaded vCenter it would have given you a number to use.

Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
Okay, I've just checked and it would appear that VMware vSphere vCenter 4.1 Trials are NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

You will need to upgrade to ESWX 3.0.2 to ESX 3.5 U5, and download a vCenter 5.0 trial.

joenswAuthor Commented:
ok
and vcenter v 2.x or 3x ??

Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
You will need to upgrade to ESX 3.0.2 to ESX 3.5 U5, and download a vCenter 5.0 trial.

Trials are only available for CURRENT products.

Unless you are licensed.

Do you have licenses for any of this?

or just tetsing and evaluating?

Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
Okay, because you have not purchased any licenses, you will not be entitled to download any upgrades.

My advice, start with vSphere 5.0 Evaluation, including ESXi 5.0 and vCenter 5.0.

you will need to register and login with your VMware Account

https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?p=vmware-vsphere5-ent&lp=default&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CC4QFjAA&url=http://www.vmware.com/go/tryvsphere&rct=j&q=vCenter%20trial&ei=8OOGTqm3JJHa0QW11vTUDw&usg=AFQjCNEazNzCELCWkyjgi3v1_sI9WYWaZQ&sig2=4Hz1IHkeDIAxN86fEx7g4w

vCenter with 5 and 4 esx it works but I prefer utlise vCenter 2.x or 3.x with ESX 3.x does not use much memory to 4 esx need at least 2GB.

that's why I want vCenter 2 or 3 with a license trial

Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
You should have downloaded the license keys when there were available.

You cannot trial vCenter 2 or 3 anymore.
