I'm working on an ASP.net project that will be used in doctor's offices. As it is now, I've only used one or 2 session variables. When do I need to use a session database?

User logs in using ASP.Net membership login control. I store the userId in a session and use it thru out the app to pass to store procs to pull data.

If you are just using userId stored in session then you don't need to do anything extra. just store userId in session and use it. If there is problem with Session Time out, just increase the session time.

A very good explanation of Session is Here.
