I am running Windows IE 9 on a windows 2008 server.  When I got to the Internet Options tools the Protected Mode check box is checked and grayed out.  How do I uncheck to diable the IE 9 protective mode?

This is becouse you have setted in GPO or you have enabled IE ESC

switch is in main console http://4sysops.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Disable.Internet.Explorer.Enhanced.Security.Windows.Server.2008.R2.Server.Manager.png

jst disable what you need =)
