Issues installing Desktop Experience SBS 2011

Hi,

Having problems installing the desktop experience feature on a sbs 2011 server. The server run's through the install ok, reporting its completed and needs a restart to finish. On startup it fails to install the feature, rolls back and restarts again. Once you login the install resumes and comes straight back to needing a restart - this loop happens 2-3 times before it reports a failure to install.

There's two errors showing in event viewer:

Update InkSupport of package InkSupport failed to be turned on. Status: 0x800719e4.

Update DesktopExperience of package DesktopExperience failed to be turned on. Status: 0x800719e4.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You should not run the desktop experience on SBS. Attempting to force the install  can cause issues with exchange and sharepoint.

Dam... I'm trying to install something that requires media player. Is there anyway to manually install it?

No. Anything at requires media player should be installed on a separate LOB server. Unless you like breaking exchange... ;)
