Need driver for Canon Faxphone for Windows 7

I am trying to install the driver from the Canon Faxphone L80, but the driver is not working.  It appears to be only compatible with 32 bit machines.  I keep getting error messages.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Canon and HP have a habit of abandoning peripheral accessories, apparently in the expectation you will purchase new when purchasing a new computer. I have such an HP peripheral.

If Canon Support will not supply a 64-bit driver and no one else can point you to one, you may be out of luck.

I have the same problem. my os is also windows 7 64 bit. i contacted canon and was told there is no driver for my version of windows 7. they also said they did not know if they would ever make one. the only solution i have come up with which i have yet to do and likely won't is to reformat the hard drive to windows 7 32 bit. the 32 bit driver does exist. personally i don't think it's worth all the effort.

If you couldn't find any driver for it, Try installing Drivermax.
This software connects to it's huge database online and finds you the most equivalent driver.
You can only download 2 drivers per day with a free user account.
Don't forget to make an account first(by clicking the bottom left corner of the software).
Then click on Identify unknown hardware. Then it takes to a site to find the most relative match. If it didn't find anything then you're done with that device!
Good luck

Kpax77,  I downloaded the software, but cannot validate my account.  I have not received the email from DriverMax and I have tried to separate email accounts.  I checked the spam folders too, and the email is not there.

There is no 64 bit driver available for the canon faxphone l80.  Will a generic 64 bit printer driver work with Windows 7?
Most likely not. :(
Arman KhodabandeIT Manager and ConsultantCommented:
What happened to your drivermax installation? Did you checked online?
blerman456Author Commented:
Yes, and it did not have a 64 bit driver for the Canon Faxphone L80.
drivermax will find a drive if it exist. There are no Win7 64bits drivers for the L80.

You may find some website that offers a driver for you device. Beware, it could be a trojan...

Did it find any 32bit driver?
Arman KhodabandeIT Manager and ConsultantCommented:
You can alternatively use Xp-mode on windows 7 to use it.

That's why I asked for x86 driver. It may work if he'll be lucky!
blerman456Author Commented:
How do I install the 86 driver?  Can it be downloaded?  I didn't try downloading the xp driver, but will do so now.
blerman456Author Commented:
I tried the windows xp version, but it is the same driver as windows 7 and it didn't work.

"but it is the same driver as windows 7 and it didn't work. "

Do you have the windows 7 x86 driver?
What happens when you try to install it?
Is it a setup package or the driver files?
What happens if you install the windows7 driver with drivermax?
blerman456Author Commented:
I have the windows 7 32 bit driver and according to canon, that is there only driver.  Where can I get the 86 driver, because it is not on driver max.

The windows 7 driver from drivermax, does not recognize the printer after it is installed. I know how to run setup and install the driver.
Arman KhodabandeIT Manager and ConsultantCommented:
If the driver from drivermax is installed, Go to Device manager and check the status of Canon. See what's it reporting?
blerman456Author Commented:
It is reporting that I need a driver for a 64 bit operating system and none exists.  I have tried everything, including contacting Canon.  They do not make a driver for this faxphone.  I appreciate all of your help and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I just am at a loss .
Arman KhodabandeIT Manager and ConsultantCommented:
No I meant that what's the Icon beside the Canon faxphone? (is it yellow? red or normal?)
Does it exactly say that you have 32bit driver and you need x64?!!!
Does device manager recognize your brand name or just reports "Unknown hardware"?
blerman456Author Commented:
There is no icon for the Canon faxphone.  The message I receive from the installation, is that it cannot be installed on my computer.  Device manager does not recognize my Canon faxphone and does not even show up under Unknown Hardware.
Arman KhodabandeIT Manager and ConsultantCommented:
What kind of port does it use to connect to PC? (LPT, USB, COM, . . . ?)
Do you hear any sound when connecting it to the computer?
Arman KhodabandeIT Manager and ConsultantCommented:
If you're not interested in anymore try(!), you can use a virtual machine in windows to use that device. Vmware and virtual PC are good.
Good luck
