Custom DataGridView column - ComboBox

[I am using Windows Forms]
I need to create a custom DataGridView column, containing ComboBox. I know I have a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn amongst tools from DataGridView, but I can't use it because it becomes very slow with large amount of items (I am dealing with several thousand items). ComboBox is very fast with tens of thousands of items in it.

I was reading this article:

it helped a little, but I am still struggling how to create a custom column with ComboBox in it?

Greetings, Frenky

Thanks for the answer - but both links refers to DataGridViewComboBoxColumn or DataGridViewComboBoxCell - what I need is ComboBox inside DataGridView, not DataGridViewComboBoxColumn.
