Can we SWITCHOVER from SINGLE Instance PRIMARY (non-rac) datagurad to RAC (2-node) physical standby setup? If this is  possible can you  provide some links, docs, etc? I'm having hard time to find the answers for this question.

Primary : NON-RAC
Standby : RAC (2 node)

Is switchover possible?

The reverse situation is more common (with a RAC primary and a non-RAC standby) and that is documented.  I don't remember seeing examples of a RAC standby for a non-RAC primary.  I'm not saying that I know it can't be done, but I would say that it is doubtful.

    Thanks Mark.

In this situation the standby is really a backup DB and can be used only as a DR.

I think you're right, we cannot really do the DG switchover from Non-RAC to Single Instance.
