Where does the Windows 7 backup store the completed backup jobs?

I have scheduled a daily backup of all of the files located within two user's c:\Users Windows profile folders.

1. Where does the Windows 7 backup store the completed backup jobs?

2. What are the file extensions of these Windows 7 backups?

3. Are subsequent backups of the initial backup job done in an incremental, differential, or full backup of the initial backup?

    Accepted Solution

Are we talking about the Windows Backup program or System Restore (Previous versions)?

For Windows Backup, you would have had to choose a destination location for the backup on a separate volume. After a full backup, the program covers all of the changes to the directories/files being covered.

System Restore uses the a percentage of the volume's free space for storage and doesn't go over that amount. The snapshots are either turned on or off for each volume, with C:\ being on by default.
