How can I set up Server 2003 R2 email notifications?

I need to be notified every morning about the health and other vital Server 2003 R2 statistics including whether or not the Small Business Server backup has completed successfully.

Please provide me with the exact steps on how to do this.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This doesn't exist as a core feature in windows server. You can install applications such as System Center operations manager or Essentials or 3rd party apps like webwatchbot etc... to alert you BUT they require an SMTP / Mail server to send alerts.

For it to send email, you need can install IIS and the SMTP Service or point it to your local mail server.

In the end, there is no (follow these steps) approach. Only suggestions.

Hope it helps,

What backup software are you using? For example ou could create a vbs script to query the eventlog for the eventid on a successful backup an then send you the email.

Provide use with your backup software and I you have a smtp mailserver.
