I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There are multiple ways to limit mailbox size in email, but inside postfix itself you have two ways:

mailbox_size_limit = ###
message_size_limit = ###

The first limits peoples mailbox, the second the individual message size

Hi, Thanks for replying, however the solution you are giving is for global mailbox size....setting this variable in main.cf will change the mailbox size for all users.....in my case I want the default mailbox size to be 100 mb for all the users and 200 mb for some particular users....

I am looking solution for the second requirement....

Hello, unfortunately Postfix was not designed for your second requirement.

There are patches that can possibly be used though. Just check this site: http://www.postfix.org/addon.html.

Hope this helps.

In my opinion, you have to switch your configuration to a more flexible one with users defined in a MySQL (or LDAP or whatever) database.
Then there is a patch to be able to manage quotas then: http://vda.sourceforge.net/

I'm running a config with users defined in mysql, I have a default quota I can override when I want.
I can give you directions (or a full article, but in french)

In addition to above - if you have dovecot as your POP3/IMAP server, you can use its delivery agent, and use dovecot quotas.
