best way to connect to server via vpn

i need to know what would be the most cost effective way to connect multiple laptops to an existing server at the same time.Please elaborate much details. need a solution that does not cost a lot in either time or money as usual...just really need to be able to telnet to a server to reach a certain program that is a terminal emulator like power term.. have a 2008 domain server that runs the email exchange, and the server that we need to connect to is a 2003 R2 server running a pick o.s. under the windows 2003 R2. there is a terminal server connected to the mix as well, all routed through a sonic 170 firewall ..there are two workstation sys. that work with RDP, but can't get any more to work even though all appears to be fine. But would not be connecting to a work station with the laptops....just connect multiple laptops to an existing 2003 server or 2003 terminal server or ??????????? HELP

that is what is running the rdp to indivual workstations, but i have lost a few and could never get them to work again, checked all settings and no go...
but more to the point, can i rdp with multiple computers to one server? say i have 3 laptops in the field and they all need access to one server, does rdp utilize more than one user at a time? Plus does anyone know of a sonicwall expert?

asked for laymans terms and did not get that kind of answer from most. This happens on most questions on this site as the techs will just say go here or go there w/o giving a step by step explanation requested. It is easy to just send one to ms web site or wherever instead of taking time to give step by step based on experiance. Especially when with in the question i have put ALL the things already tried and failed with. When things are all set and tripple verified that they are set right and things still don't work...that is when someone with EXPERIANCE in these matters needs to step up...i rarely see this here or much other places...just try this and try that of which when i asked the question i already stated that i have..no one seems to throughly read the questions that i put forth tons of info in to cut to the quick and bypass all the things that have already been tried....thank you..
