Make sure your client pc (where from you want to connect) gets resolved in the server PC.
If it doesn't , you can add a line to hosts file

I rebooted the server and now its at top performance but I was copying a file to the server and encoutered many write errors similar to this:

    SCSI: Async write error -- dev: b 31 0x01f000, errno: 126, resid: 49152,
            blkno: 8170032, sectno: 16340064, offset: 4071145472, bcount: 49152.

any idea what this can indicate?

    Accepted Solution

Verify if the file was copied OK. Retries are normal in certain drives.
    best regards

Check /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log for error messages; You may have a bad disk, which could explain both symptoms
