Server lockup, mobile devices (apple)

EE,

Issue with server locking up after ipads and droids join server.
SBS 2008 with exchange 2007 (both updated).  Five office users running outlook, each with droid phones (updated) and two with Ipads.  Server ran fine with these devices connected for over 6 months.  We patch monthly.  We did a round of updates a few weeks back (sept patching)  and about one week after that, the server started freezing.  No log files, no dumps.

First we removed a newly installed AV product as the Av had just expired on the network.(The server had no AV to begin with and we installed a managed Eset client on all machines.)

Then started removing windows updates. One at a time.  Exchange rollup 4 for sp3 could not be removed.  .net 4 was included in those updates. No change in freezes.

bottom line was active sync crashing in iis 7
MSExchangeAppPool would stop in application sites and we would have to restart it.  It would then crash in aobut 5 minutes later.  I fixed it (so I had thought) by changing advancd settings "Rapid Fail Protection" to enabled=false.  Also we set the recycler to run at about 500MB for the worker processes.
Everything ran fine for about 7 days.  Then the server locked up.

We've done extensive hardware testing and are 99% sure everything is good.

Currently it looks like this guy has the same situation and i followed this but cant confirm anythign with iis7.  It looks like his issues were with iis6.

We are out of options here. Currently the server seems stable but we have no ipads connected.  just the droids. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

~MCT

It helped me to fix the issue. This issue caused by a mailbox having too many contacts.

This somewhat helps because it showed that the actual errors may be coming from android phones.
HTTPERR.log file shoes specific users that only have droids.

We also found this spaming our logs every second:
event id 5139 A listener channel for protocol 'http' in worker process '6000' serving application pool 'MSExchangeSyncAppPool' reported a listener channel failure.  The data field contains the error number.

I will get back with the other errors.

other error we found that seems related

The Module DLL 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\Owa\auth\exppw.dll' could not be loaded due to a configuration problem. The current configuration only supports loading images built for a x86 processor architecture. The data field contains the error number.
