Quality practice Exercises and Quizzes

Hi there,

I've been through many programming courses and have done many websites, but because I've been more focused on my studies (Information Systems) over the last few years, I'm out of practice, and I need some really good practice exercises and quizzes that will help me get back in the game again.

I'm looking for good quality learning style practice exercises and quizzes. The ideal would have some theory followed by lengthy quizzes that will help me to practice memorizing the most important things. I already have projects that I need to complete.

For now the specific languages I'm looking to get re-acquainted with are JavaScript, Ajax, Jquery, CSS 2/3, and HTML5.

The goal is to speed-up the learning process as much as I possibly can.

Thanks for your help!

I have been through the phase.
I was able to get back on track when i joined experts-exchange two years back.

Apart from this you can try taking up some freelancing projects as challenge and try to actually build a website.

If you have a smart phone which supports HTML5 browser, then you can try to make a small application there and see if any app store accepts the same.

This will give you enough number of challenges that you will enjoy if you enjoy programming and technology.

Quizzes and exercises (from my experience) are not productive at all.

I found a 50 quiz tutorial on about.com; I did not do the tutorial, but went through the 50 questions I found that the quizzes are really helpful in assessing ones true knowledge of the subject.

My request for many more quality practice quizzes and practice exercises still stands. As I said, I already have projects that I am working on right now.

May be then you can start resolving issues in any technical forum (like this one itself).

I would still maintain that working on resolving real issues (like these on a technical forum) is far more productive than any quiz or practice exercises

That's a really good idea, how do I get started on that?

The reason for the quizzes is to keep my knowledge of how JavaScript works fine-tuned because many times I tend to waste lots of time by improvising too much, when in reality there is a simpler way of solving a problem. It's been a few years since I did a JavaScript course, though I have used it prior to that, but mainly for form validation and menus.

<<That's a really good idea, how do I get started on that?>>

Its simple. Just start answering questions on this technical forum.
If you have good experience and knowledge in client side technologies like JavaScript, CSS and HTML, then start answering questions in them.

Take my word, you are not going face challenges like these anywhere else. Definitely not in quizzes and practice exercises :)

I do agree that answering questions here on Experts-Exchange is good idea, but I still feel that quizzes and practice exercises provide a means of remembering the theory behind it all. So I signed up at Brainbench which has really good tests.
