"Your password has expired" on Windows 2008 RDS

We have a Windows 2008 R2 RDS farm.
I have create a GPO - 14 days before the password expires - the user is promted by a "ballon-tip"...
This message is only shown for a couple of sec.
Is it possible to have the "old-way" password expire as in Windows 2003? - or in another user-friendly way?
