You can install a new domain controller on Server 2008 x64, then demote the old domain controller to achive this.

Make sure you force a replication across before you demote the old 32bit.

The schema should be no different between 32bit and 64bit.
Nope. Schema was extended when you first introduced your 2008 DC.
Now, just only prmote new 64bit server as additional DC.

hi
when i try to add a aditional DC 2008 R2 i get an error you have to use adprep /forestprep in win 2008 R2
but when i do it i get an erro that the win 2008 R2 is not an Domain controler
OK, so probably you added earlier 2008 R1 with SP2 ? In case that you want to add R2, yes you need to run adprep32 /forestprep and adprep32 /domainprep

check an article on my blog I posted earlier and follow it
