Microsoft Instant Messaging

We have a mixed Outlook environment. The server is Exchange 2003, some of our outlook clients are 2003, 2007 and 2010.  We currently don't have Instant Messaging capability, but would like to understand what is offered in Microsoft Exchange and a good document to walk through the process to install/enable IM.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There is no IM capability in Microsoft exchange. There used to be in exchange 2000 or 5.5 (cant remember which) but it has long since been removed and replaced with office communication server or lync server.

Sorry about that!
