Thanks. I saw the links. It looks good but does not answer my question. I am not a php developer. I am also not using flex. I only use  flash cs5.5 and actions script 3. I am a beginner in flash

I guess what am looking for is how to retrieve data from a database and pass to flash, then modify the data in flash and then pass back to the database.  I just want to know where to write the queries and how to set my connection strings to the database.

@Sirdots:
You have to create SQL query similar to my example on ASP and pass to Flash.

Using MS SQL it's easy you have to add "FOR XML" keyword

Check this link

http://www.sqldbatips.com/showarticle.asp?ID=23

as soon as you will retrive XML you can find on Google or using EE millions examples how to parse XML on Flash

No, you don't need to write into local drive you have to strem to the Flash using Response.Write

Modify

set @xml = (
   select * from Orders
   for xml auto,elements,root('AllOrders'))

Response.Write(@xml)

Here is first tutorial what I found on Google as I mention you can find millions
