Windows Update Error 0x80190193

I have 4 Windows XP computers on a domain that are putting out Windows Update error 0x80190193. So far I have double checked that the update.microsoft.com and all derivatives of it are on the trusted sites list, that activex is not being blocked by firewalls or routers. I have also tried resetting the windows update resources. I found an error in the Windows Script Host, but as all the machines have SP3 I am unable to reinstall windows script host. Also a reinstall of SP3 would be far to time consuming to be practical.

Do you have a local WSUS server or are they downloading the updates from MS?
What happens if you access http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com using IE?
Which version of IE do you have IE8 or IE9??

Presumably this is what you used to reset http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 
can you post the tail end of the c:\windows\windowsupdate.log last 40-50 lines?
baretail can be used http://www.baremetalsoft.com/baretail/

Trying to access the site from the computer is the main issue. I can manually download the updates and install (sorry for not making that clear) but going to the site produces the error. I have tried both IE7 and IE8 with this (xp so no IE9 option). This error appears when the Windows update system tried to check for software version. Also I did use that fixit, but I have also done the manual reset of all the components and re-registering them.

I discovered the issue when I tried to download the Windows Update Agent, it was our SonicWall that was blocking the download traffic from all Microsoft sites. Issue Resolved.

Depending on what your environement is like, you might want to consider setting up a local WSUS server. This way you would minimize the bandwidth consumed as well as have control over which updates are installed. GPO management of the clients.

What exactly did you do to unblock it. Was it an option in the content filtering

It seemed to be an issue with content filtering, which threw us off due to never having this issue before. We had to entirely unblock all of the microsoft sites that could possibly relate to updates or downloads.

I found even if I allow the update site it still is blocked but once it unchecked the Do not allow Freeware or Download opt # 49 it works but that defeats the purpose of the filter
I am going to try updating the firmware

Had same issue on certains machines and checked Sonicwall firewall and in the content filtering section "java" was disabled under "Restrict Web Features". Un-checked it and back to normal.
