VPN and Domains

If I setup a IPSec Gateway to Gateway VPN between 2  or 3 locations, and 1 of the locations houses the AD domain. Will i be able to login to the domain from the other locations via the VPN tunnel, or is there other types of software needed in order for this to work, other than the LAN to LAN setup in the routers.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It is not recommended to do that. Better to use an domain controler at each site. Else you have to set up DNS and AD info on each "branch" manually, which is a pain, and further you get all kind of authentication issues.

I have a similar requirement, so am interested to hear more about having a DC at each site - do you then setup replication between DCs somehow? I have only ever worked in single site with SBS :)

Yes, of course. You just configure your other DC, and replication should work automatically that way. That works with SBS, too, but the branch DC may not be a SBS.
