WDS - Move Install Image to Different Image Group

Posted on 2011-10-06

We are running Windows Deployment Services on a Win2008 R2 server. We currently have one image group named Default. Our number of Install Images has grown since we started using WDS and I want to start storing them in image groups. Is there a way to move an existing image to a new image group? Thanks!

You can't really *move* the images from one group to another. You can, however, export images from one group and import them to the other. In the first group, right click the image you want to move and click Export, then right click the Image group you want to move it to and click Add Install Image. Then point it to the WIM file that you created during the Export. After that you should be able to delete the image from the first group.
