Controlling where a slider slides to on the stage

Please take a look at the link below

click on Welcome link and see how the welcome section slides in
without sliding over the menu items (Homepage, welcome, wedding details etc)

I assume that the menu items are also on the stage because if they are not on the
stage it will not show

do you have an idea how this slider was made so that it does not slide
over the menu items and it just stops before the menu items when you click >

(please note that i can create the slider to go back and forth. Mine is just
sliding over the menu items because it is sliding to the right edge of the
stage which I dont want).

    Accepted Solution

if you're creating it in one file . i.e. the slider and the menu, simply mask the slider so that it doesn't show where the menu is.

    if you're using as3 simply slidername.mask  = maskobjectname;

if you're doing a timeline based animation - you can create a mask layer.

I am using AS3 for the slider with the tween class. I guess looking at your response above number two is my option

    "if you're using as3 simply slidername.mask  = maskobjectname;"

I have the slider and the menu items on my stage. What is the maskobjectname and how can i mask this? I guess I have to research more about masking.  Do I create this on another layer or what?

I attached a sample file for you to see.

    Assisted Solution

just draw a rectangle in the area where you want the content to be visible.  give it an instance name - that is your maskobjectname

When you say content, I guess you mean the content of my pages right?  The content will be to the left (about 750px) and the menu to the right on the stage(about 50px) making a total of 800px wide
