How to send notification to the client

Hello Guys,

In my Asp.net i have a Session ID of my clients. I would like to know how if it possible send some notification to the client from the server.

Ex.. My client Is using the system normally, but he need to receive some kind of notification from the server ( could be a new user who has login in that moment ). Does any one have a idea ?

In Windows forms i could use EVENTS but in ASP.net how does it works ?

Thanks Guys

You can't do this since a .Net web request is stateless; however, you can mimic what you are trying to do with AJAX. You need to add a javascript function that calls itself every x number of seconds and performs an AJAX request to the server to get the notification.

This isn't the server forcing an update to the page, but rather the page forcing a request (without user intervention) to the server.
