in your HP-UX box, login as root, then do the followings:

For XDMCP connection to HP-UX
1. XDM Configuration
# /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e [Enable]
2. Firewall (TCP/UDP Ports) Configuration  (do this if  you have firewall)
Open UDP port 177 from the PC to the remote host direction.
Open incoming TCP ports 6000~6010 from the remote host to your PC.
3. Reboot the remote host and start Xmanager

It depands on what type of firewall you have and what OS version are you running.

It the firewall is set to off, it should work without have to worry about step 2.

If you still need more help, please post the details about your OS versions and what type of firewall you have in your HP-UX box and the PC.

Thanks for the points and have a nice weekend, cheers!
