How to reset password for remote user

I have a user changed his laptop password while travelling. He was using VPN when he changed his password. Now, none of his passwords(old and new) are working...it says, account is locked. Is there any way, I can reset his password remotely?Any other suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Since user cannot access the computer locally, it will be impossible for you to reset the password for him from remote.
Does the user know the Adminstrator's password for the machine?
He can try to log in as an Adminstrator and reset his local password to access the machine.

There are some tool available which can reset the Administrator's password. Some are free and some are sold in the Internet. Just Google.

You can also get the user to run a linux live CD like Knoppix. Then the user could connect to the internet and possible for you to access his machine and hardrive.

Can you not change his password on your side then give him the new password?
