400.4.4.7 Message Delayed

I am receiving below messge from  exchange.

Delivery is delayed to these recipients or groups:
username@domain.com
Subject: Test

This message hasn't been delivered yet. Delivery will continue to be attempted.

The server will keep trying to deliver this message for the next 1 days, 19 hours and 35 minutes. You'll be notified if the message can't be delivered by that time.

What do I need to check to make sure this email will go through or future email will go through to this domain.

What you are seeing is a soft bounce.  Your mail server will attempt to resend the mail at different intervals until the mail finally gets bounced with a 5xx hardfail.  If you are only seeing this message while sending to 1 account, and not for every mail, then the problem is on the receiving end and is out of your control.  If, however, this is a problem with all mails you try to send, then the problem is on your end.

This is only happining to one domain. We are having issue sending email to anyone under this domain. We are recieving email from them ok but unble to reply.

FYI - We don't have issue sending email to other domain.

You can check that remote mail service is working find. First get MX records and then, check SMTP service on that server. With this webpage can do in a few minutes: http://www.mxtoolbox.com/

If remote server doesn´t work, this delay is normal.

Hi,
You need to follow these steps to find out the exact issue:-
1. Try to telnet the target server from your exchange server i.e your HT server. You will get the response from the target server why that is not accepting your mail
2. if you are not able to telnet and didn't get any response from target server then go to http://www.mxtoolbox.com and try to SMTP Diagnostics on the target server it will clear you if target server is ok or not.
3. Also check your server on http://www.mxtoolbox and do a SMTP Diagnostics and check for blacklisting

hope it will solve out your issue

I have used http://www.mxtoolbox.com to check SMTP test.

Tested their domain and received "Warning - Reverse DNS does not match SMTP Banner"

Tested our domain and received " OK - Reverse DNS matches SMTP Banner"

Does it mean they need to update their rever DNS records?

Madan SharmaConsultantCommented:
yes they need to update their reverse DNS and also check for blacklist on the www.mxtoolbox.com

It was issue on other side of the domain and I have requested them to update their dns record. This has not been tested at all.

Why delete the question instead of assign points to those who tried to help with your problem?  We all gave appropriate responses for the information that was provided.

I am new subscriber, not sure how to use it very well. I was just giving my honest openion.

If nobody gave any answers, or if the answers were not related to what you asked, then deleting might be ok.  Since we gave adequate answers to help solve your problem, there should have been points assigned IMO.

A main incentive for Experts to answer questions is getting points, it's more or less how the site operates.

You can click "Request Attention" up near the top of the thread to request a Moderator to re-open the question if you want to properly assign points.
