good morning,

we have a ms 2008 r2 enterprise server running sql server 2005 64bit (9.00.5057.00).  we noticed that about a month ago 9/13 sqlexpress *32 bit was installed and running on the server.
does anyone know if this was pushed down in an update?
what are some of the problems we could have with it?
we do not see it installed in the add/remove programs section.

thanks for your input.

    Accepted Solution

What are the other programs running on it? Vmware or some related tools?

Many programs would install their own sqlexpress instance.

we discovered that it was the backup exec software running on it with the sql agent that required it.

thank you for your help in pointing us in the right direction.
