    Accepted Solution

That is correct!  Just installing Exchange 2010 on your network will NOT affect e-mail.  However there are certain active directory modifications which have to be made for Exchange 2010 to be installed. If you are looking for a good guide to upgrading Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 I have used a great resource from Microsoft, and I have used a Rapid Transition Guide available online and I have attached in a PDF for convenience.
